With the opening economic headlines of 2016 hawking stories of market selloffs, market instability, market panic, and a general sense of economic dread, we’re well served as Christians to calmly, coolly note that these things are to be expected – and even, in a sense, welcome – as the natural and inevitable consequences of an economic system built upon what God calls “an abomination”:
A false balance is an abomination to the LORD,
but a just weight is his delight.
~ Proverbs 11:1 (emphasis added)
While we certainly do not welcome the pain coming now or the much worse that must come in the sense that we enjoy seeing people hurt or lives (and communities) negatively impacted, we should welcome and be thankful for the pain that is ramping up across the board on the economic front in that it is one clear way in which God is powerfully calling us to repentance.
The inevitable pain, darkness, and despair brought by way of radically anti-Christian economic constructs is something that the Lord enables us to avoid by commanding us to define and pursue economic activity in a certain manner. When we heed His loving commands, we find the way to true, legitimate economic growth, vitality, and prosperity. When we reject His Nature as defined in His Word as the basis (or Law) upon which we build our approach to economics, we beg for the pain that we are experiencing now and will continue to experience (on a generally worsening scale and trajectory) for as long as we cling to the black magic construct of fiat economics. (See: Fiat $lavery: We have been bought and paid for…with nothing.)
It all boils down to the fact that we have enabled, encouraged, and are now being enslaved by the ridiculously unbalanced notion that some should have the power to literally craft “wealth” effortlessly out of thin air, so that they may then control and effectively own everyone and everything beneath them. In this we have enabled, encouraged, and forged the chains of our own slavery and secured the sure, ever-increasing bondage of our children, grandchildren, and future generations to come.
The black magic of fiat currency is the economic engine that drives the great, systemic evils of our day. It is the satanic means by which the masses have been enslaved to a tiny elite and all manner of evil has been unleashed and enabled to flourish.
The Welfare State would be impossible apart from the black magic of fiat economics.
The perpetual Warfare State would be impossible apart from the black magic of fiat economics.
The purposeful ratcheting up of inflation (by pumping more and more fake “money” into the system to artificially prop up asset values (think: stocks and homes) while driving the price of food and other necessities up, up, up) is one core component of the black magic economics under which we now live. The perpetual bailing out and enabling of certain elites (and their friends) atop the system is another.
At the bottom of it all is the epitome of an abominable “false balance” despised by God and described in Proverbs 11:1.
We as Christians should model a calm, sober acknowledgement of this reality for an increasingly panicky, fearful, and State/Corporate dependent culture. We should seize the great opportunity that this dark situation presents for us to share and apply the everything-touching, everything-defining Gospel-fueled Great Commission of Jesus Christ.
We should be personally seeking biblical, Christ-centered economic Reformation while advocating the same on a community, national, and global level by any means we are given to do so.
There is surely great peace, joy, beauty, and prosperity on the other side of repentance and biblical economic reformation…and the only way we’re going to get there is by way of God-given brokenness, repentance, and reformation, in that order.
So fear not, Christian. While terrible economic consequences are beginning to crash down around us (See: Why our economic Jenga Tower Of Babel must fall.), we have been and will always be given all that we need by our Master to faithfully proclaim and personally apply His Nature as revealed in His Word as the beautiful, binding reality for economics…and everything else.
Soli Deo gloria…and let’s roll!
