Well, at least Patrick Stewart wasn’t seen in public holding a Bible and taking a stand for its detailed application in the arts…or business…or law, civil government or anything else.

That would be unforgivable.

That could not be tolerated.

That would have to be punished.

But dress in full drag to promote a TV show?

Oh yeah, that’s totally cool.

And hip. And celebrated. And enlightened.

Here’s how People magazine today fawned over the cool, hip and totally enlightened move recently made by Stewart, who is famous and adored for such roles as Captain Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Professor Xavier in the X-Men movies:

The British actor was almost unrecognizable on Monday when he donned a pink satin dress, a blonde wig and heavy makeup while promoting his show Blunt Talk in Los Angeles.

“Something is happening in Hollywood tonight. #blunttalkseason2,” Stewart captioned an Instagram picture of himself getting all dolled up for the event.

Social media users took notice of the 75-year-old’s new look, with some comparing Stewart to Helen Mirren.

“Glorious. Well done sir. Helen Mirren, amirite?” one tweeter wrote.

Another Twitter user quipped, “channeling Helen Mirren there.”

Well isn’t that just precious.

And another great/terrible/important/painful reminder that ours is a culture under the judgment of God.

Things are getting interesting around here, aren’t they?

They’re getting crazy fast.

But that’s to be expected and it should never cause the people of God to fear. The Romanesque suicide of America is loaded with opportunities for the Kingdom of God to advance and thrive. That needs to be our focus. We have to keep our eye on that ball, even when crossdressing progressives try to distract or depress us.

We’re here for great purpose. We’ve been perfectly placed on this cultural battlefield at this precise time so that we might, by God’s grace and through His Spirit living within us, advance His Kingdom even as His enemies flame out and crash all around us.

So stay frosty and be ready to take the next hill on the battlefield that God places before you.

Remember: Rome wasn’t conquered in a day…but it does seem to be falling quickly.
