How awesome are the opportunities we’ve been given?

How amazing are the tools that God has provided?

How cool is the technology that He has raised up for our use to proclaim His name and advance His Kingdom right here and now?

Along those lines, I’m happy to share the following links to audio files for sermons I’ve been blessed to preach at Christ the King Church.

Here’s a partial listing of sermons currently posted at Sermon Audio:

Milk, Meat, Maturity and Grace (preached and recorded on July 3, 2016)

  1. Thank you so much for your thoughts and suggestions! I have actually looked on the NCFIC website before, but unfortunately not a whole lot in our area that looks promising. We do have some like minded friends that are also interested in listening to some online sermons together. As you say no church is perfect, but I would be curious as to your opinion on whether pursuing a mini home church meeting together and listening to teaching with this other couple would be better than attending a very flawed church. The elements of community and sound teaching would be present, but we would be missing any sort of mature authority in a pastor or elder to oversee us (we are all late 20's).

  2. Thank you for the link to such a wonderful resource! My husband and I recently made the hard decision to leave our church, as it is pretty much following the culture rather than preaching the gospel. We have been wondering where to go from here and until we figure out what is next we have discussed listening to sermons online so you posting this link was very providential.

Any suggestions you have for resources to find a good church would be most appreciated. We are coming out of a liberal denomination that removes parts of God's Word if it doesn't suit them, but our problem is that the more conservative theologically sound churches in our area want to add to the Word of God with extra man made rules. It seems almost impossible to find a church that preaches nothing but the Word of God. Honestly it makes us want to throw up our hands and say forget it, we'll just listen to sermons at home, but my husband and I know we need Christian community and older believers to learn from.

On a separate note, I just finished 3 of your books, Fire Breathing Christians, Apathetic Christianity, and Stupid Elephant Tricks, and I wanted to say how much I appreciated your writing. Particularly the subject of goat chasing being the favored past time of evangelicals. It is one of those things that seems to make so much sense when you're caught up in it, I mean, why wouldn't we want to invite as many in as possible and make them as comfortable as possible? What is so wrong with that? It is so hard to see that the result of that is the starvation of the sheep, and the wasting of many kingdom resources like time and money. I also wanted to mention that in the kindle version of FBC it seems like all the content from the first edition is still in there, just with a line through it crossing it out. There are entire sections with multiple pages in a row of crossed out content and it seems like some sections were out of order. I don't say this to criticize, I just wanted to let you know in case you weren't aware.

    1. Thank you so much for the very encouraging words and for the heads-up on the Kindle version of the original FBC book. I've removed the Kindle version from Amazon and hope to sometime soon(-ish) upload a revised file that addresses the issues that you described. Thank you for letting me know!

As for the difficulty in (and importance of) finding a sound church, I understand your frustration. Holly and I experienced an interesting and challenging path leading up to our finding Christ the King Church.

One resource that we used (and one that eventually led us to CtKC) was the NCFIC website. The National Center for Family-Integrated Churches isn't anything like a denomination; it's more of a loose association of like-minded local bodies of believers. As with any association, there will be great variety, I'm sure. We're all works in progress and no local body is perfect, of course. Every local church is "a collision of sinners", as John MacArthur might say.

That said, we did find the NCFIC site to be useful in helping us find churches to visit in the search that eventually led us to CtKC.

You can find the NCFIC site at https://ncfic.org/

Thank you again for your very kind, helpful, and encouraging feedback!

Please let me know if there's anything else that I can do to help.

      In His grip,

      Scott
