Contrary to popular American “Christian” mythology, true believers are not placed here to be polite, culturally compliant observers passively watching the world go to hell while nurturing a nice, neat little “gospel” that is kept safely sequestered and tucked away in “its proper place” (at church, in Bible studies, in “our hearts”, etc.). (See also: Beware the “Gospel in a Bottle”.)

Christians are not here to politely escort the enemies of Christ from victory to victory.

Christians are here to confront those enemies.

Christians are here to actively oppose the enemies of Christ by faithfully proclaiming and applying His Word in every realm of His creation.

. . . We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. . . ~ 2 Corinthians 10:5 (emphasis added)

Christians are here to achieve victory after victory for Christ over His enemies on His terms as He has commanded and equipped them to do, all by His grace and for His glory.

We’re not here to make buddies.

We’re not here to make pals.

We’re here to make obedient disciples:

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” ~ Jesus (the real One) in Matthew 28:18-20 (emphasis added)

The loss of this fundamental truth is the single greatest defining difference between the worldviews of the explicitly Calvinistic and victorious eschatology-driven Pilgrims and Puritans who settled the lands that we now call the United States, and the fiercely anti-Calvinist, Left Behind-style dispensational perspectives that dominate the “Christian scene” here today.

How far we have fallen.

This profound multigenerational swing from acutely God-centered theology and a biblically optimistic eschatology of victory towards man-centered theology and preemptive cultural surrender has been predictably devastating.

Where once Americans actually believed in – and committed everything that they had toward – the victory of Christ through His obedient people’s faithful  application of the Gospel-fueled Great Commission, now the vast majority of Americans are convinced that “all is lost here on earth”, that “victory by the enemy is inevitable here and now”, and that they are best served to just keep their heads down, play nice, and do what they can to enjoy life as much as possible while “riding things out” until Jesus comes down to take care of all of these things that they’re not about to seriously tackle themselves (no matter what He has told them along those lines). (See: Encouragement from Satan.)

See the problem with this?

Do we see how this “new American approach to Christianity” that came to dominate our culture over the past 150+ years is actually (and ironically) at the root of all of the things that modern American Christians like to complain about most? (See: Judgment begins with the Church…not the Democrats.)

God’s people have not been supernaturally saved by Him so that they can sit and watch history unfold. They have not been raised from death to life and had His Spirit imparted into them so that they can just lay down and “ride it out” here while waiting for Him to sweep down and do precisely what He has personally commanded and equipped them to do here and now.

We are not here to “play nice” as the world would have us define such things.

We are not here to pitch peaceful, world-soothing unity at the expense of Truth personified:

“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” ~ Jesus (the real One) in Matthew 10:34-39 (emphasis added)

We are here to fight.

We are here to confront and correct in accordance with the Gospel-fueled Great Commission.

That’s what true love looks like in action.

It’s not apathetic.

It’s not lazy.

It’s not self-serving.

It’s not disengaged.

It’s active, zealous, selfless, passionate, powerful, beautiful and…it is assured of victory.

Not because of us.

But because of Him.

Want to see the likes of Planned Parenthood and The Big Gay Wave not only stopped in their tracks, but driven from the field of battle in a route? (See: Presuppositional Law: Where we begin with law determines where we end.)

Then stand and fight.

On His terms.

  1. I find it interesting, that the picture Scott Buss used to, catapult his thinking with his article ; "Christians are here to fight",, The picture depicting the young David, holding up Goliath's head after he cut it off, decapitated the enemy of the army of the Living God ! Hmmm. lets see, who is it that does decapitations today, hurts people, does VILE things, oh yea, MUSLIMS, so I guess according to Scott Buss, Christians are supposed do likewise ?
    I'm just asking ?

    Come to Christ,
    Come to LIFE !

  2. "Christians are here to CONFRONT those enemies" ; So Scott Buss, your take on Christianity is one that is "CONFRONTATIONAL", according to your own words, have I got that right ? Ok, in that case, may I suggest that you act upon your own belief about being a Christian, and go in front of any Local Mosque, holding up a sign that reads, something like, lets see, Oh, "Muhammad is alive, IN TORMENT IN THE FLAMES OF HELL",, or, something like, " Islam… IS OF THE DEVIL", ? Both those statements are Biblical Truths, for anyone who has rejected God's Christ in this life, as Muhammad did, is cast into Hell's Flames upon their death, and certainly ALL religions of man, such as Islam, is of the Devil, for if God didn't give it, then most certainly Satan did ? So, let me know how you make out with that, IF, YOU choose to ACT (not just talk) upon your own belief and words ?

  3. Jesus brought Grace not condemnation. John 1:17

For the law was given through Moses; · “grace” and · truth came through Jesus Christ

    John 3:17

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

The race We run is to teach Grace more than law and judgement

    Acts 20:24

But I make my life of no account as of any value to me, that I may finish · “my task” and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to “testify to the good news” of the “grace” of God.

In New testament above, his task was to,teach Grace in Jesus and not to teach law.

Why do we teach Grace ( Jesus is Grace and truth)? 1) Sin will not have mastery over us and 2) folks will be justified freely (even if imperfect).

    Romans 6:14

For sin will not have mastery over you, since you are not under law but under grace.

    Romans 3:24

They are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus

    Why don’t we push law?

    Galatians 3:11

11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

live by faith in Jesus righteous which is “gifted” to us. (Faith in HIS righteousness and not our own by works. His righteousness is given and not earned so no man can boast)

    1 Corinthians 1:30

30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption

    Romans 5:17

For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the “gift of righteousness” shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

What’s the purpose of law of good works? Only one purpose, to lead us to Grace through jesus. Law does not make us righteous or justified.

    Galatians 3:24

24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith

    1. Here is some inconvenient truth for you, Son:

Jas 2:1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
      Jas 2:2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;
Jas 2:3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:
Jas 2:4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
Jas 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
Jas 2:6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
Jas 2:7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?
Jas 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
Jas 2:9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
Jas 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Jas 2:11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
Jas 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
Jas 2:13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
Jas 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
Jas 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
Jas 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Jas 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
Jas 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
Jas 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
Jas 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
Jas 2:22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
Jas 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
Jas 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
Jas 2:25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
Jas 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

You cannot be saved by works but neither can you be saved by grace through dead faith.

  4. KDL doesn’t know much about this more virulent strain of Christianity. Our grandchildren will be rebuilding collapsed civilizations, and reorganizing civil government based on Biblical ethics when your grandchildren…er wait, you don’t have any.

  5. KDL, whoever he or she or he/she may be, has a clear antipathy for those who worship the Creator of a universe KDL is convinced is responsible for its own existance. What KDL cannot account for is how KDL knows anything at all? Do you hate the monster under the bed KDL? Nah, you know there’s no monster under the bed.

  6. May we have some more, please. Thank You.

So now, how do we make John Nelson Darby disappear? You know, fade away into the annals of obscurity where he belongs.

Getting the pagans out of the picture is a cinch if we get their shrine of plants and false doctrines out of our churches.

Also, Johnny Mac is an issue which needs to be addressed, expeditiously.

Perhaps Kenneth Gentry, Th. D. is up to the task?

We're not here to make friends, right.

  7. While all of Hebrews is good, chapter 11 is full of acts of faith, and especially pertinent to this post. Just verses 32-38 are powerful by themselves:

And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets, who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. Women received back their dead by resurrection; and others were tortured, not accepting their release, so that they might obtain a better resurrection; and others experienced mockings and scourgings, yes, also chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were put to death with the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated (men of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves and holes in the ground.

  8. Ah, admiring the Puritan witchburners now, are we? Is this how you intend to deal with other faiths?

This premise is laughable. Your faith held control over most of the world at one point in time, and it’s called the “Dark Ages” for a reason. You’ve had your chance and blew it.

To expect victory for a figure who couldn’t bother to show up in any actual historical records to back up his claim is self delusion. You won’t find any mention of Jesus in any historical documents within his supposed lifetime.

But keep trying. Your cult has experienced nothing but a string of defeats and it won’t be getting any better. The world is opening it’s eyes to the danger of fundamentalism, and especially their calls for a theocracy not unlike a Christian version of Saudi Arabia or Iran.

Victory after victory? Keep telling yourself that. I’m sure you all will vanish suddenly into heaven and jebus will come out of the sky any day now.

    1. Why are atheists so consumed with religion?

I know why KDL, because there is scripture that explains it.

Is there anything in your communist manifesto that explains it?

You know that the Romans kept excellent records that confirm that which you deny.

Your entire system of faith is grounded on an unproven and impossible to prove scientific theory.

That takes way too much faith.

So when you are old and feeble, taking your last few breaths and the demons begin to torture you before you are even dead, I want you to remember that your eternal destiny awaits you and it will be much worse than what you are experiencing at that moment.

There is a monster under your bed KDL. That monster is you.

Here's a link that will help you out on that whole fossil record thingy:

  9. Long on motivation, short on application. The all-encompassing, big brother run, control grid, and the aggressive police state that is modern America, means that Christians must act in concert. But before anything happens, a comprehensive biblical strategy of resistance must be agreed upon, launched, and supported by at least at few local ecclessias. The large mainline 501c3 religious franchises have shown no inclination to stand against the clear and present danger of tangible in your face evil, except in terms of personal repentance and faith, stripped of God’s Law and any mention of the Dominion mandate, which is implicit in God’s covenant with us. He promises to be our God. Hallelujah! But we also promise to be his people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. Ugh!

Our efforts must be either a. Call the church to repentance, refuting the pervasive pietistic, attitude of non-engagement, and actually retraining the sheep; or b. Evangelize a whole new, fresh batch of recruits, and train them right the first time. Plan b seems simpler and less frustrating. Since giving birth is easier than raising the dead.
